That would be true if he wanted to send a physical protection detail to
the guy's house. I guess technically, even then, it could be possible for him just to know an address, although that normally reveals a name.
I assume the whistleblower discloses his identity to the IG. Obviously, to his own attorney, through whom people like Schiff could communicate with him as needed - but he only needs to know the name of his representatives even to do that.
So I see no reason why he has to know the name himself to support the notion that it remain undisclosed. Why do you think he needs to know the name in order to support anonymity?
